OVERVIEW
Community members can propose ideas for Taiko governance, but only Security Council (SC) members can create on-chain proposals on dao.taiko.xyz. This guide explains how to submit your idea for SC consideration and sponsorship.
Your proposal journey: Submit on forum β SC member picks it up β Discussion & refinement β SC sponsors to DAO β Token holder veto period β Execution.

WHAT HAPPENS AFTER YOU SUBMIT
WHAT MAKES A STRONG PROPOSAL
SC members are more likely to sponsor proposals that are:
-
Clear and specific β State exactly what you want to happen, not vague ideas
-
Well-motivated β Explain the problem and why this solution is the right one
-
Technically feasible β Show you understand what implementation requires
-
Aligned with Taikoβs mission β Supports Ethereum scaling, decentralization, and security
-
Community-vetted β Has prior discussion or temperature check showing support
-
Risk-aware β Acknowledges potential downsides and how to mitigate them
WHY PROPOSALS DONβT GET SPONSORED
PROPOSAL TEMPLATE
Use this structure when creating your forum post:
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q: Why canβt I create proposals directly on dao.taiko.xyz?
A: On-chain proposal creation is restricted to SC members to ensure quality, security review, and prevent spam. The SC acts as a filter, not a gatekeeper β good proposals get sponsored.
Q: What if no SC member picks up my proposal?
A: If no volunteer emerges within 5 days, the SC Coordinator will assign a sponsor or provide feedback on why the proposal isnβt moving forward. Proposals without a sponsor after 14 days are closed (you can resubmit with improvements).
Q: Can the SC change my proposal?
A: The SC Sponsor may suggest edits for clarity, feasibility, or compliance. Youβll be consulted on material changes. The goal is collaboration, not gatekeeping.
Q: Whatβs the token holder veto period?
A: After SC approval (minimum 5 members), the proposal enters a 21-day period where TAIKO holders can veto. If fewer than 10% of eligible tokens veto, the proposal passes and can be executed.
